Amelia House Young Adults Residential Service
Hapton Supported Living and Outreach Services
Amelia House offers an intensive support residential placement for people who may be transitioning from children to adult services, people moving directly from secure care back into the community, or people suffering a placement breakdown.
We feel it is vital that people only stay within residential care for the minimal amount of time needed and work towards further independence. For that reason, we offer this within our supported living pathway under what we call our ‘Satellite Services’ which are small, supported living houses, shared or solo around Wakefield.
We work with our local commissioning colleagues, local authority and transition teams to create bespoke residential and supported living placements and packages of support for people who may typically present with high risk, often labelled as ‘challenging’ or ‘forensic’ in behaviour, and support them to live their life to their full potential.
Care at Amelia House
There are a range of care types we cater for, including:
- Young Adult Care
- 24/7 Residential Care
- Sensory Impairment Care
- Physical Disability Care
- Respite Care
- Autism Care
We carry out this care in combination with our aim to provide supported living for young adults aged 17+ in order to help them live life to their full potential within a community setting.
Supported Living at Amelia House
We have three established supported living services in the Wakefield area: Clayton Rise, Springhill Mount and West Street, and we are also currently working on future developments.
We provide bespoke packages of support – enquiries about this or to make a referral, please contact Jake Thompson, Registered Manager, on 01924 227516 or via email at jthompson@bondcare.co.uk
Our Ethos
Our core values include empowering individuals to have a choice in the support they receive, promoting equal opportunities, dignity and respect and providing a safe, secure environment for the people we support. Amelia House helps to transition from ‘caring for’ to ‘working with’ for people we support through our Active Support framework.
We give the people we support the chance to attend regular meetings and have input on the running of the home and the recruitment of staff.
Activities at Our Young Adults Residential Service
To help engage and encourage the people we support at Amelia House, we offer a wide range of activities. We have a secure garden with rabbit and chicken huts to provide a therapeutic outdoor environment, and we also hold classes for pottery, arts and crafts in line with our Activity and ASDAN Hub which is located in the garden of Amelia House.
Support & Independent Living Training
Our support services help us to pursue our aim of supporting people to develop their independent living skills. This is done through the support plan framework and the range of ASDAN qualifications on offer.
The people we support will have a dedicated key worker and a plan developed with them and their family. Areas in which we offer support services include:
- Health
- Control over Daily Life
- Personal Cleanliness and Comfort
- Food and Drink
- Personal Safety
- Social Participation and Involvement
- Occupation
- Accommodation Cleanliness and Comfort
- Dignity
- Finances
