The Chapel Garth EMI is a residential home in Bentley, Doncaster. The Home is well established in providing care specific to people living with dementia as well as other mental health issues. With 34 rooms and a variety of bathrooms, including a wet room, and ensuite facilities, we cater for different needs and preferences.

The care home is managed by Elaine Lindsay. Elaine’s team of trained carers provide compassionate care around the clock to whatever level is required for the individual. Chapel Garth caters for elderly and younger adults with a variety of needs on a long-term stay and respite care basis, supplying support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All meals for residents are prepared on site by a dedicated chef, with protected mealtimes to prevent any avoidable interruptions for the comfort and safety of our residents. We understand that appetites and tastes change as we get older, particularly for those living with dementia, so we listen to what our residents enjoy, providing them with appetising, nutritious meals. We encourage social dining to engage residents at mealtimes, promoting independence where possible and helping those who require assistance in a respectful and dignified manner.

Activities at Chapel Garth Care Home

In order to provide residents with entertainment and the mental stimulation they require, we provide a fantastic array of activities, including flower arranging, baking, quizzes, board games, live entertainment, bingo and singalongs. We also have a small outdoors area for residents to enjoy in good weather which boasts manicured flower beds and a communal patio.

A friendly, open atmosphere is promoted at Chapel Garth, where family and friends are encouraged to visit for coffee mornings, parties and organised events. Our residents also enjoy visits from a local hairdresser to pamper them.

A popular activity amongst our residents is scrapbook making, as it allows them to retell stories, share memories and reminisce. This is particularly beneficial for those living with memory loss and dementia.

Where possible, we promote local outings for residents, whether to shops, the local library or nearby cafes. Residents can leave the care home with a dedicated escort (this can be a relative or a member of staff) – residents’ safety is always our priority.

The Home benefits from having the beautiful Bentley Park just a 7-minute walk away, where there are various picnic areas, nature spots and plenty of wildlife to enjoy. There is also a community garden where fresh produce is growing, including strawberries, potatoes and herb mixes. 

The Bentley Pavilion is another popular visitor attraction at the park, along with other historical monuments, including a fountain and bandstand.

Chapel Garth is situated near to local transport links that are easily accessible and reliable. The care home is just a 15-minute drive and 10-minute bus journey from Doncaster city centre; the number 66 bus is just a 2-minute walk away which takes passengers directly into Doncaster.

For visitors travelling by train, Chapel Garth is approximately a 10-minute drive from Doncaster train station and less than a 10-minute walk from Bentley (South Yorkshire) train station.
