Hours: As per contract. Hours will be worked flexibly according to rota. Some weekends and evenings may be worked as necessary.

Qualifications: Must hold or be willing to work towards NVQ Level 2 in Care.

Job Summary

The Care Assistant is responsible for the 24 hour needs of all Service Users.

A high standard of care is to be maintained at all times by adhering to the Homes Policies and Procedures.

The Care Assistant should work with and participate as part of the team within the home and behave in a professional manner at all times.

The Care Assistant will assist and participate in activities both inside and outside the Home.

The Care Assistant must attend all relevant mandatory and necessary training sessions, and undertake

NVQ training if not already held in accordance with CQC requirements.

Ensure that COSHH regulations are adhered to.

Ensure familiarisation with all Policies and Procedures especially Fire, ‘Whistle blowing’, confidentiality, grievance and disciplinary.

Relationships

The Care Assistant will be expected to make positive relationships with all persons within the home environment.

The Care Assistant will be expected to make positive relationships with all members of outside multi-disciplinary teams.

Ensure promotion of Service Users freedom of choice at all times in line with current guidelines.

All Service Users are to be treated with privacy, dignity and respect at all times. Staff to be non-judgemental at all times when dealing with the Service Users, families, next of kin, other staff members and outside multi-disciplinary team members.

Responsibility to be taken for all daily aspects of Service Users personal hygiene needs. i.e. bathing, dressing, toileting, etc as directed by the Service Users individual care plan.

To assist Service Users where necessary and supervise at mealtimes.

To ensure that Service Users dietary needs are met by collection of menu’s daily and correct delivery of diet and fluids in a manner appropriate to the Service Users condition, any specific dietary needs and feeding aid requirement.

To participate, as delegated, in all aspects of Service Users social needs.

To ensure all necessary documentation is completed correctly in accordance with Company and CSCI requirements.

Communication
Communicates with Manager or Person-in-Charge, keeping them informed of:

• Any problems with Service Users, relatives or staff.

• Any maintenance issues i.e. equipment/environmental.

• Any communication problems with Service Users, relatives or staff.

These responsibilities are not listed in order of priority. A close working relationship with the Directors and Home Manager will be essential to ensure a successful implementation of all policies and procedures.
